The results are in...

It was a close race folks... two decisive favorites battled it out late in the polls, but in the end there could be only one!

Well, there were a few ties, but still... I'm just sayin'...

Overall - here's how the vote turned out:

Tied for last place with a whopping 4 votes each:

- (life hands me lemons) Uhm... WTF am I supposed to do with these? I'm just sayin'...

- The green and purple polka dotted monkeys dancing around the room make me happy. I'm just sayin'...

I have to say I'm bummed these didn't get more traction. Then again, I'm looking at this thing from a different perspective - I have to design the winning t-shirt ya know...

Edging those two winners out at 5 votes:

- You type SMH and LOL but are you really? I'm just sayin'...

Hey - maybe this marks a downward trend in irritating web acronyms...
Nah we'd never get that lucky... IJS...

Next up - another tie with 9 votes each:

- That's what she said... Dude, really? I'm just sayin'...
- If I wasn't wearing this shirt, my tits would be staring at YOU. I'm Just Sayin'...
- I don't NEED no stinkin' t-shirt! I'm just sayin'...

Two of these make t-shirt references in a t-shirt contest... that alone is funny to me... They'd each make great designs, but on the page they get little reaction it seems...

And the first phrase to miss out on the top five - with twelve votes:
- I ignored your last 24 calls for a reason. I'm just sayin'...

Who hasn't been here before? Seriously... stop calling.

Coming in fifth with a total of 15 votes:

- When I was your age I lost my tooth not my virginity... I'm just sayin'...

It's funny 'cause it's true...

Tied for 4th with 21 votes each:
- I'm not in a bad mood... You're just annoying. I'm just sayin'...
- I have PMS and a gun... I'm just sayin'...

I think I've actually heard these said in conversation before... don't ask...
Scooping the bronze with 24 votes:

- Twilight pretty much ruined vampires. I'm just sayin'...

Again, it's funny because it's true...

With 43 votes, the silver goes to:

- Money can't buy you happiness... But I'd rather cry in my Ferrari... I'm just sayin'...

I was really pulling for this one late in the polls - I already had the design worked out in my head...

And finally! The winner of a custom designed t-shirt (to be revealed shortly) by just 3 votes coming in at 46 total:

- Minimum wage for politicians. I'm just sayin'...
I'm honestly surprised and encouraged by these results - could this be reflective of a more politically aware culture on the rise? Nah - we just hate politicians... effin' crooks... I'm just sayin'...

Thanks to everyone for contributing and voting! We're hoping to add more content like this in the coming weeks and months - if you have any ideas feel free to shoot them over to justsayin.us@gmail.com. I'm looking for contributing writers/content creators so again - feel free to drop me a line.

Waffle House: A love story...

Have you ever eaten at a Waffle House? If you haven't, find the nearest location, and head there immediately (as soon as you finish reading this).

In my myriad travels up and down the I-95 corridor I've seen more than a few of these establishments. They can usually be found on the outskirts of a remote town, or in the armpit of some forgotten suburb - areas practically devoid of culture. In other words; dominated by white trash, strip malls, off brand big box stores, self-storage centers, and used tire service stations. All of this sets the backdrop for what occurs, on instinct, as a bad dining decision. Instincts can fail you sometimes. True story.

At first glance, the building immediately gives you the appropriate vibe. The simple branding says "Are you literate? Good - come have some waffles...". The "open 24 hours" sign says "Did you just leave a crime scene? Great, hang here for a while... I mean who'd look for you in a Waffle House?". Truth in advertising people. When you see a Waffle House you immediately think something like "I'll bet there are at least 2 crack heads in there...". About 8 out of 10 times you'd probably be right... But that's no reason not to eat there... I'm just sayin'...

A reliable standard for anyone consistently awake after 11PM; from truckers and feral teens to cops and deranged lunatics, Waffle House has been distending stomachs and satisfying appetites since 1955. Literally hundreds of locations scatter the United States.

There are innumerable reasons to add "Eat at Waffle House" to your bucket list... but here are the top 10:

10. Because the sign is like a triple word score in Scrabble.

9. Because you think yo know what to expect. If you've eaten at Denny's or Ihop, you have no idea what you're missing. Waffle House stands head and shoulders above both of these 2 so-called restaurants.

8. Because they created an entire menu beyond waffles, but you'll probably only need about 10% of it.

7. Because you need a little perspective. Too much time spent in a TGIFriday's can warp your outlook on life. It's not Friday everyday, no matter how many Jack Daniel's ribletts you scarf down.

6. Because there's more to American poverty than just WalMart.

5. Because of the "Open Kitchen" layout. You can watch them cook your food - from mixing and pouring the batter, to working the griddle - it's all in plain view.

4. Because fresh waffle batter baking in a hot iron smells like drunken teenage girls making out.

3. Because Waffle House hash browns could easily kick the s*it out of your little brother. Seriously.

2. Because otherwise, you'll never know if any of this is true.

1. For the waffles. They're fuc*king delicious. I'm just sayin'...

Now - head to the nearest Waffle House, and report back here on your experience. If you've already been, I'd love to hear your thoughts...

The best revenge is good living... And staying in shape...

OK... totally random, but I thought I'd share.

I just saw some facebook pics of this girl I used to have the biggest crush on in like grade school. She turned into a mega-bitch in high school - one of your typical high school elitist snobs. If this girl was in "Fired Up!" she'd be a Panther. She thought she was hot sh*t, and dressed like a slut to drive us "lesser mortals" crazy...

You know the type...

Now she's "the heavy friend" in all the group pics. Win.

That's even better than her just going ahead and getting fat. You can tell she's just clinging to the memory of being the hot girl - and now she's on the outside looking in.

She's got the double chin going. She can't wear jeans.

That's the best revenge...

Yeah - it's childish of me, I know but f*cking sue me. It's a rare thing to see someone get what's coming to them. To witness instant karma (the true definition - within the same lifetime).

That's a good feeling, and I don't care how childish that makes me.

CONTEST!

It's time for a new IJS contest...

I'm just sayin'...

Post your best, funniest, most thought provoking, outrageous, grammatically incorrect, obnoxious IJS phrases in the comments section below.

There's no limit on entries, but I will delete any that are overly offensive or abusive (along with spam, links, and other such nonsense...).

It takes some effort to offend me, but I'm not down with hate so just keep that in mind.

The contest starts now, and will run until midnight US EST (GMT - 5hrs.) Sunday, July 20, 2010.

Some things to keep in mind:

Do not post anonymously - if you can't be identified, you can't win. Period. It's likely you found this via Facebook, so just include a link to your FB profile or something. Better yet, log in to Blogger or G-mail or Google and "follow" the page before you post. This way - you'll get updates before everyone on Facebook does, and there's no doubts about your entry/entries.

If there are multiple entries for the same (or similar as determined by me) phrase(s), the first one posted will be entered based on the time-stamp. If the first version is posted anonymously none will be entered. I can't reward copying/stealing... but if you make it your own, add something significant - now we're talking.

All entries posted before the deadline will be reviewed by yours truly, and the best of the lot will be posted in a poll within a couple of days. More details when the time comes.

To be clear - these rules will all be administered at my sole discretion. By playing this little game, you're agreeing to be cool with that. I'm just sayin'... (PS: My lawyer hates me...)

So... What does the winner get you ask?

You'll get a kick-ass t-shirt with your winning phrase and custom artwork designed by your's truly. The winner will be announced to the entire Facebook fan base and all justsayin.us subscribers. You'll get bragging rights and you'll be the envy of your fellow IJS fans...

At least until the next contest... :)

So go ahead! Show me what you got!
